The two-bedroom unit had a surprisingly spacious layout compared to other accommodations in the area, making it a comfortable base for our family to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. The kitchenette, though basic, offered just enough for quick meals, and the internet connection held up well for our needs while planning future adventures.
The bathroom's space was a tight squeeze for three adults, which made certain tasks quite challenging, especially dealing with the small hand basin that couldn't accommodate filling the kettle or washing the dishes effectively. We also encountered a toilet that didn’t flush properly after multiple uses, which added to the inconvenience of the stay. While the motel is close to town, that means some noise can seep in, especially with nearby festivities, leaving us a bit sleepless.

A few things you should know
Had a lovely bush view and enjoyed a delightful little garden area for relaxation outside.
The two bedroom unit felt cramped with four adults and a child, lacking necessary space for comfort.

The location of Mataki Motel is lovely, with a very pretty view right outside the door. The bed was clean and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Owners were friendly and helpful, which made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, the room was quite small for our needs. There wasn't a sink to fill the kettle, so we had to awkwardly fill it from the shower head. It was fine for one night, but for a longer stay, I'd recommend a bigger room. The room rate felt a bit high given the size and facilities available, especially during off-peak season in Murchison. All in all, the basics were there, but more attention to amenities would make a big difference.

Super clean room with a comfortable bed! A bit cramped with the single bed for bags, and filling the kettle in the bathroom sink was awkward. a good choice for a short stay! 😊

the facilities were clean and super quiet, and the parking right outside the door was super convenient. really enjoyed having a well stocked kitchenette with everything we needed, perfect for makin meals. the bed was comfy, and we had a peaceful night. was nice to take a short walk into town and check out some local shops. feels like a cozy, well looked after place.
the room was a little outdated, and the bathroom felt cramped which made it tricky to fill the kettle. also, the check-out time could’ve been communicated a bit nicer instead of being knocked on the door.

Couples looking for comfort
The room was immaculate, and we enjoyed having a couple of hours each evening on the deck outside. The outside patio tables were a nice touch. we found ourselves chatting there for hours as if we had known each other longer, beautiful view.
It wasn’t precisely a bargain, but the quality made it quite tolerable.

Perfect stopover!
Needed a place for a quick overnight stop and this spot was perfect! Room was basic but super clean, comfy bed, and quiet enough to catch some Z's without traffic noise. Loved having a table to enjoy a takeout meal. Just wish the kettle setup was a bit easier! a solid choice.

A great place for a group getaway! We enjoyed our time hiking the beautiful walking tracks and relaxing in the lovely garden. The staff were super friendly and helpful, providing us with everything we needed, including good wifi to plan our fishing spots. Just a short walk away from shops was a bonus for us.
Our room was a bit small for five people, and we had to ask for more cutlery, which felt slightly inconvenient but manageable.
